March 21 – 24, 2013. Temecula, CA
Join CCSD Tours for 3 1/2 days of cycling in Southern California’s beautiful wine country. You’ll also get to taste local specialties such as olive oil, balsamic vinegar, cheeses and locally produced honey.
In the afternoon choose to either stay and relax at a winery or head into historic Old Town Temecula to discover the amazing array of specialty stores down the many alleyways: exclusive boutiques, art galleries and a myriad of antiques stores.
We end each day with a wonderful meal at one of the many independent restaurants of Temecula, offering delicious food
and a fine selection of local wines and beers.
All rides offer longer and shorter options for different abilities and are fully supported by CCSD coaches* ride leaders and a support vehicle (which can shuttle you and your bike back to our hotel after lunch if you want to indulge a little at the winery!)
This trip is the perfect blend of riding and challenging yourself just enough to justify an afternoon of fun and relaxation!

FAQS
Q. When does the Tour start?
A. You may arrive any time on Thursday afternoon (March 21). Check in to the hotel is from 3pm, however if you arrive earlier we can give you some ideas for places to go for a short ride to stretch your legs. In the late afternoon we’ll have a welcome meeting followed by dinner.
Q. When does the Tour end?
A. After we ride on Sunday we meet in Old Town Temecula for a farewell lunch. After lunch you’re free to hang out and relax in Town, or we can help you pack up bikes. If anyone wants to ride more we’re always willing to do bonus miles too!
Q. Where will we stay?
A. We carefully select our hotels to ensure they meet our standards of cleanliness, service and friendliness. Rest assured that our hotel is at least a 3* standard and has been used by CCSD in the past. Full details of accommodation and itinerary will be released after booking.
Q. Am I fit enough?
A. The terrain around Temecula is mixture of flat and rolling hills. Riders should be comfortable riding on the road and be able to ride at least 30 miles per day for three days. All rides will involve some climbing. There are shorter and longer options to challenge faster or fitter riders and a CCSD support car, ride leaders and coaches will be out on the road at all times with you. Our clients are usually surprised how much further they can ride when fully supported by CCSD.
Q. What if I’m slower/faster than the other riders?
A. Each day’s ride follows a set route. For parts of the ride you’ll stay together in a group, and in other parts riders go at their own pace. However, there are prearranged regroup points and plenty of on-the-road support with coaches, ride leaders, and support vehicles. Even if you’re the last person on the road, you will still be well supported, and you’re never really that far from other riders. If you’re a faster rider and want to be let loose or do extra miles, CCSD is used to accommodating those needs as well.
Q. Do you cater for special diets?
A. Yes, absolutely. We are sympathetic to those with special dietary needs. Please let us know in advance and we will do our best to arrange suitable menus.
Q. What if I drink a little too much at the winery?
A. We’re there to get you back to the hotel. Just put yourself and your bike in our support vehicle and we’ll shuttle you back to the hotel safely.
Q. Should I bring my own bike?
A. Many clients bring their own bikes to CCSD trips, but we can assist with a bike rental if you prefer that to flying with your bike. You may also ship your bike via FedEx or UPS. A local bike shop can help you box your bike to be shipped, and CCSD can arrange for the bike to be assembled upon arrival.
Q. What equipment do I need?
A. A road bike in good working condition, cycling shoes, cycling clothing, water bottles, and a helmet is the minimum. Some people like to bring cycling computers, power devices, GPS systems, etc., but none of that is absolutely necessary. CCSD provides all sports nutrition—e.g., gels, bars, sports powders, drinks—plus snacks on the road. Helmets are mandatory on all CCSD rides.
Q. What gearing do I need on my bike?
A. CCSD strongly recommends a compact crank set with a minimum easiest gear of 34-27. If this doesn’t make sense to you then please email us and ask. We’re here to help.
Q. Where do I fly to?
A. San Diego International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, or John Wayne Airport. There are a number of shuttle or car rental options to get you to the trip start and we can advise you on this after booking.
