Custom base training Camp for colavita women's team

February 20 to 24, 2017

IMG_6806.JPG

5 days of awesome riding in Southern California with coaching from CCSD covering topics such as: improving climbing, descending and cornering; pacing; nutrition; working with power or heart rate; essential bike skills; essential bike mechanics and safety checks; pedaling efficiency drills; how to approach group rides / events; and how to identify and improve on cycling weaknesses.

Rides will be between 40 and 70 miles per day with a mixture of terrain from flat / rolling hills to more challenging climbing days in the mountains. All rides will be at 'base camp' pace (i.e., endurance pace designed to build a solid base for the upcoming season.) This is not a camp for sprints, anaerobic intervals or extreme riding!

The aim of this camp is to have fun with fellow Colavita cyclists in a beautiful riding environment while sneaking in some bonus miles to surprise your riding buddies back East.

Athletes will benefit from on-the-road and post-riding coaching and excellent support from our roving mechanic.

Carlsbad

Base location and hotel

Fairfield Inn & Suites, 27416 Jefferson Ave, Temecula, California 92589
Rides will leave each morning from the hotel. We may drive to the start of a ride one day to reach some unmissable riding in the mountains.

Please make your own reservation at the Fairfield Inn by calling (951) 587-9800. Mention the CCSD Training Camp group block to get a reduced room rate. Note that reservations must be made by January 15, 2016 to get the group rate.

Temecula area

Temecula is located 50 miles north of San Diego, CA, and still retains some appearance of an Old West town. In spite of this appearance, Temecula is a modern town and has many services within walking distance. The town is located at 700 feet elevation and has many surrounding traffic-free roads that take in the Southern California coastal range scenery.

Inland rides that go to higher elevations (e.g. Mount Palomar) will require heavier clothing e.g. jacket, long fingered gloves, leg warmers, etc.
